I joined fintech startup Crezco as their first design hire and Head of UX Design, initially solo before hiring and building a design team. My first task was to take the initial MVP for their account-to-account payment experience and level up the user experience, enhancing usability, responsiveness, visual design and branding.
The initial payment experience was lacklustre - visually unappealing, confusingly branded, unresponsive on various screen sizes - all of which affected not only the appearance, but usability, accessibility and trust for users connecting an app to their bank account. I first set about cleaning up the payment app's branding, simplifying and modernising the design, whilst ensuring it would work equally well on desktop or mobile, and improving the instructions so the payment journey was easier to understand and complete.
In addition to this initial redesign, where the payment app initially only supported one-time domestic payments, we then subsequently designed completely new journeys for international money transfers and recurring payments. These added a huge amount of new states and variations to the app, to account for different transfer methods and regulations in dozens of different countries, and a huge number of complex scenarios that needed a simple UI with clear messaging.
